Abstract

Introduction: Throughout this article, certain keys obtained through reading the work of the philosopher Henry Bergson will be applied to the study of the narrative language of comics. Starting from the idea of time understood as duration stated by Bergson, and the essential characteristics that he attributes to it, an analysis of time in this medium will be carried out. Methodology: The analysis of comic will be carried out initially through a deconstruction at the level of graphic signs, to continue through the symbolic and metaphorical level, always from the prism of Bergsonian thought. Results: Thus, a difference will be made between a time represented in terms of space, quantitative, and a duration time, mediated by the aesthetic impression of the artistic work, of a qualitative nature. Discussion: Thus, we will assimilate the dosage of narrative information with the constant and continuous creation of novelty, an essential characteristic of time. New qualitative states are thus incessantly generated in the reader's conception of the work. Conclusions: The study of narrative ellipsis is considered especially interesting since the implicit time it evokes is conceived directly by the reader's mind and will contain so many characteristics consistent with the idea of duration.
