Abstract

Introduction: The influence of loneliness and social support on suicidal risk during the pandemic in men and women aged 18-25 years is shown. Suicide has increased every year, these fantasies of death usually appear in a period of psychological crisis and emotional conflict. Methodology: It is quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional. The sample is non-probabilistic and the data are collected using the ESTE-R scale for measuring loneliness, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (EMASP) and the ISO-30 Suicide Orientation Inventory. Descriptive statistics, measures of central tendency and dispersion were used; the hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics: Pearson's correlation coefficient, ANOVA and linear regression analysis. Results: They show a relationship between the variables suicide risk orientation, loneliness and perceived social support, highlighting family-type loneliness and existential crisis. Discussion: The results are consistent with the different studies that consider loneliness and lack of social support to be risk factors for the appearance of mental health problems or suicidal behaviour. Conclusions: Loneliness and perceived social support explain the presence of risk of suicidal orientation in the population studied.
