Abstract

Introduction: The pandemic forced educational centers to develop distance learning options. After it, higher education has maintained its online training offer. However, it is essential to evaluate whether virtual learning environments (VLE) are effective or only constitute digital repositories. Effective VLEs consider a constructivist perspective, integrating technical and pedagogical innovations into their instructional design. Imaginative Education connects students emotionally and makes it possible to integrate knowledge, strategies, technology and development of competencies. The objective of this research is to create guidelines for the design of effective VLE based on Imaginative Education. Methodology: Methodologically, a case study was carried out, in which the subjects of the bachelor's degree program in education at a Chilean university were analyzed. The diagnosis was carried out with the content analysis technique and consisted of reviewing all the resources available in the program. Results: This revealed good organization and layout of content. Discussions: But little diversity of formats and insufficient interactive, collaborative and adaptive resources. Conclusions: Consequently, guidelines are proposed to promote - through effective instructional design - creativity, critical thinking, adaptability and personalization of teaching methods to face current challenges.
