Achievement motivation and academic self-efficacy in Administration and Business university students

Introduction: In a developing country, the study of the drive to achieve the academic goals set and its link with the perception of skills in the academic field turns out to be a relevant factor to understand the complex educational reality; therefore, the main objective of the research was to determine the relationship between achievement motivation and academic self-efficacy in students of administration and business majors. Methodology: This work was developed under the quantitative approach, correlational scope and cross-sectional non-experimental design; The sample was made up of 285 students from the Business and Administration majors in the city of Lima, Peru; data collection was carried out with a virtual survey. Results: Achievement motivation presents a positive, high and significant relationship with academic self-efficacy (r=0.578, p<0.01); women, older young people, those who study and work at the same time and management students have higher scores in both variables. Discussions: The evidence shows important results in two variables in the educational and psychological fields; therefore, it is advisable to continue studying it at the university level. Conclusions: Achievement motivation and academic self-efficacy are positively related in a sample of Peruvian students.
