Introduction: This research analyzes the impact of digital transformation on the financial performance of Ecuadorian firms, evaluated through earnings per share and tax burden rigidity. Methodology: Using panel data from 781,176 companies that reported their financial statements to Ecuador's Superintendence of Companies between 2018 and 2023, the study employs advanced statistical models to measure how variables such as number of employees, liquidity ratio, and equity strength interact with digital transformation. Results: The results suggest that digital transformation has a significant positive effect on earnings per share, particularly when controlling for economic sector and time period, while its impact on tax burden rigidity is also notable, indicating that firms with higher degrees of digitization face higher tax burdens. Discussion: Panel data models incorporating sectoral and time effects provide the most robust results, underscoring the importance of considering these factors in assessing the impact of digital transformation. Conclusions: These findings have important implications for the formulation of business strategies and public policies, highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach that considers both the benefits and potential tax burdens associated with business digitization.
