Introduction: Childhood overweight negatively affects the development of motor and cognitive skills, with a particular impact on academic performance in mathematics. This study aims to propose educational strategies to address this issue. Methodology: A literature review was conducted based on reports from international organizations such as WHO, UNESCO, and OECD, along with approximately 50 previous studies addressing the relationship between physical activity, cognitive development, and math performance. Statistical data on the global prevalence of overweight and math difficulties were also considered. Results: The reviewed evidence indicates a significant relationship between childhood overweight, lack of physical activity, and poor academic performance. Discussion: This relationship underscores the importance of implementing educational interventions focused on promoting physical activity as a means to enhance both motor and cognitive skills in children. Conclusions: Encouraging an active lifestyle within the school environment is key to tackling childhood overweight and its effects on learning, particularly in mathematics, contributing to the holistic development of school-aged children.
