Introduction: Metapoetics, which developed especially in the avant-garde period, was followed in subsequent decades. The goal is to verify how metapoetic reflection is present in British poetry at the end of the 20th century, as an example of up to what point this aspect is found within the objects of artistic creation within the turn-of-the-century context. Methodology: The study will begin with a presentation of different theoretical aspects of metapoetics that will serve as a framework in which to place the subsequent analysis of the selected poems. Five poems by different authors and different generations have been selected that offer disparate approaches to the metapoetic phenomenon. Conclusions: From here, the goal is to check how these visions complement each other and whether there is any common motivation.
