Introduction: A balanced self-esteem, with positive and negative aspects, contributes to forming more resilient individuals and able to face the challenges of university life. This study evaluated the two-dimensional structure of the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSES) in Peruvian university students, following previous evidence on the validity of this two-factor approach. Methodology: A cross-sectional and instrumental design was employed with 601 undergraduate students. Results: RSES demonstrated high internal consistency and convergent validity, with Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega coefficients above 0.70. The AFC results supported a two-dimensional model. The model's adjustment rates confirmed the robustness of this structure. Discussions: These results are consistent with previous literature on the two-dimensional structure of self-esteem in student samples. Conclusions: The utility of RSES as a reliable and valid tool for the evaluation of self-esteem in this population is reinforced, suggesting its relevance for future research and practical applications in the educational and clinical fields.
