Abstract

Introduction: Female entrepreneurship in the tourism sector drives economic development, fosters gender equality and promotes innovation. Women entrepreneurs diversify tourism offerings, create jobs and revitalise local communities. Methodology: This study analyses research on tourism and female entrepreneurship using the Web of Science database, covering the last two decades. Its objectives are to identify trends, publication patterns, and geographical areas with the highest research activity, and to determine the most influential journals, authors, and keywords in this field. Results: The bibliometric analysis reveals how research has evolved and highlights the regions with the highest activity. Discussion: Female entrepreneurship is crucial for economic development and gender equality in tourism, although challenges remain such as lack of research in some regions and barriers to female participation. Conclusions: The study highlights the growing importance of women's role in tourism and provides a basis for future research and policies to promote gender equality and sustainable economic growth.
