Abstract

Introduction: This systematic review examines mindfulness practices related to journalism professionals, with the aim of observing how they influence journalists' well-being, happiness and self-esteem. Methodology: A comprehensive search of the Scopus and Web of Science databases was conducted during the first quarter of 2024, using specific terms such as ‘Mindfulness’ and ‘Journalism’. Ten articles were selected for the systematic review. Results: The studies analysed indicate that mindfulness helps journalists to manage their emotions, thoughts and professional values. It is also highlighted that mindfulness-based education can strengthen journalists' resilience, enhance their learning and support decision-making. Discussion and Conclusions: Future research should focus on the development of mindfulness programmes in journalist training centres. More research is needed to explore the relationship between mindfulness and journalism.
