Abstract

Introduction: This paper seeks to analyse existing literature on how artificial intelligence can be ethically applied to promote sustainable development and gender equality, identifying synergies, challenges and opportunities. Methodology: A systematic review of a set of 82 articles obtained from a Scopus search is carried out, and discussion groups are identified. Excel and VOSviewer were used. Results: It is a field of research with 16 years of history that began in 2007 and has been growing exponentially since 2018. The journal Technological Forecasting and Social Change stands out. Discussions: Four research groups stand out: gender equality, health and well-being; global politics and deep learning; technology, stem education and artificial intelligence; machine learning and health. Conclusions: Collaborative and cooperative decision-making is crucial to address complex challenges that can contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the context of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in all countries. It is crucial to implement specific strategies that ensure women's active participation in decision-making and in building sustainable solutions, supported by artificial intelligence tools.
