Abstract

Introduction: This study explores the relationship between child abuse and psychological disorders, specifically anxiety and depression, in a sample of 200 children and adolescents referred to a specialized psychological care unit due to physical, psychological abuse, or neglect. Metodology: Using a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design, tools like the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS) and the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) were applied. Results show that 37,7% of participants exhibited some level of depression, with a significant prevalence of generalized anxiety disorder. Results: The findings highlight the need for early psychological interventions to prevent long-term mental health issues. The severity of the disorders varies depending on the type of abuse, its duration, and available support resources, underscoring the importance of individualized treatment approaches. Conclusions: The study concludes with recommendations for early identification and intervention in abused children to reduce the potential impact on their psychological well-being.
