Abstract

Introduction: Virtual reality (VR) is a valuable tool for supporting university training across various professional careers. This study proposes a methodology for creating a VR environment of a tourist space for Tourism and Hospitality (TH) students, who typically engage in in-person study visits as part of their training. Methodology: The study involves the development of a VR system based on the connectivist pedagogical model. It allows students to explore a delimited tourist space, facilitating repeated experiences until they achieve learning objectives and internalize the information provided by the VR environment. Results: Creating VR environments allows students to familiarize themselves with tourist spaces, overcoming resource limitations and ensuring safe access to information in preserved conditions. The methodology also facilitates the evaluation of students' prior knowledge and tracks improvements after using the tool. Discussion:This methodology proves effective in simulating study trips, optimizing the educational process by enabling repeated interactions with the virtual environment to solidify knowledge and skills. Conclusions: Integrating VR into TH training offers a valuable alternative to traditional study visits, improving learning and overcoming logistical barriers.
