Abstract

Introduction: The urban environment uses color as a key element to create local identities and revitalize spaces. This study explores the influence of color in large-format murals in the public space of Mexico City. Methodology: Academic literature on the use of color in urban environments and its impact on murals was reviewed. The mural at Plaza Tlaxcoaque was evaluated, analyzing color, symbols, and its interaction with the environment. The research included interviews and surveys about the perception of the mural and the impact of color. Results: The results show that a consistent color scheme in urban art strengthens the identity of the place and enhances the urban landscape. Color can generate visual continuity and complement the space, influencing visitors' perception. Discussion: The combination of color and aesthetics in urban art creates an effective landscape that not only improves the perception of the space but also reinforces the experience of those interacting with it. Conclusions: The appropriate use of color in urban murals can improve the public space experience, promoting visual identity and greater cohesion in the environment.
