Restorative justice in the treatment of conflicts of sexual harassment, violence and discrimination in university establishments

Introduction: In universities, conflicts of sexual harassment, violence and gender discrimination are common, affecting students who are often silent victims. This article analyzes the possible application of a restorative system to address these conflicts within the university community. Methodology: A qualitative methodology with a descriptive design and empirical evidence was used to investigate the feasibility of a restorative approach in dealing with these conflicts. Results: The results indicate that there are factors that allow the incorporation of a restorative treatment for conflicts of sexual harassment, violence and gender discrimination in the university. This approach could contribute to a more conducive learning environment. Discussion: Although policies, regulations and ethics commissions represent progress in the matter, they do not always provide preventive results or satisfactory restorative solutions for victims, given their punitive approach. Conclusions: A restorative system could offer more restorative and satisfactory solutions in conflicts of harassment, violence and gender discrimination in the university community, improving the educational environment.
