Abstract

Introduction: In this work, we analyze the comic Mis días contigo (y sin ti), by the Mexican graphic artist Melissa Santamaría (Mizumel), who uses digital comics to generate visual metaphors highly influenced by Japanese manga aesthetics and romanticism. Methodology: We use the paradigm of indexical inferences proposed from microhistory by Carlo Ginzburg, for whom details become fundamental elements that account for broader structural and biographical aspects related to the context of creation and the author of the work. Results: We found that the aforementioned comic strip structurally and thematically takes up the aesthetics of the album, where the predominance of the image is built from metaphors of the wonderful. Discussion: The way in which the previous elements are intertwined is carried out through a narrative and graphic that takes up the romantic topics of nature, predestined love, women and art.

Sarahi Isuki Castelli Olvera, Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla

D. in Social Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. She is a Research Professor in the Faculty of Communication at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Line of research: visual culture in contemporary graphics, so her research is oriented to topics related to visual culture, contemporary art, comics, anime and Japanese manga and Mexican comics. He is a member of the National System of Researchers, level 1.
