Introduction: The objective of the study is based on monitoring the cognitive processes of students of the Bachelor's Degree in Administration in order to, propose reflection on the need to promote teaching that involves metacognitive processes in the student body. Methodology: a 20-item survey was carried out using a Likert scale to groups with a total of 59 participants. Results: cognitive and emotional skills in learning situations, task accomplishment and situations of lack of knowledge, nervousness or frustration could be known, showing in all of them the metacognitive strategies undertaken. Discussion: the results obtained are correlated with the neurobiology of cognition, emotion and thoughts, thus substantiating the importance of promoting metacognitive processes in teaching. Conclusions: based on what has been developed, teaching strategies are proposed for the promotion and evaluation of students' metacognitive skills, but, above all, for the development of critical thinking.
