Introduction: In 2022 the Catholic University of Temuco created a new educational program at the Faculty of Architecture, Arts & Design: the career of Creative Crafts. With an interdisciplinary spirit, the current director suggested the implementation of a large format computerized numerical control paste deposition machine. Methodology: A request was made to students who want to redesign and manufacture this machine. Results: The outcomes of this project were the elaboration of the CNC machine, redesigning parts and pieces to adjust to available processes and materialities, as well as its start-up, to find and identify the first failures that could arise about its electronics, such as some parts and their materiality. Discussion: we initiated a discussion focused on the possibilities of self-managing and producing equipment within the careers, the evaluation of open resource models of numerical control machines. By adapting and redesigning foreign models to our reality and available manufacturing process, tracing a new way for the production of equipment for our faculty.
