Uso da comunicação digital no pós-covid 19: um estudo sobre idosos em Portugal e Espanha

Introducción: A presente investigação tem como objetivo analisar a relação dos idosos com a tecnologia e a comunicação digital, em Portugal e Espanha. Procura-se, também, avaliar o impacto da pandemia COVID-19 na frequência e modo de comunicação entre os idosos e os seus familiares. Metodología: Os dados utilizados na investigação provêm do European Social Survey (ESS) (round 10: 2020-2022), incluindo uma amostra representativa da população idosa de Portugal (574 inquiridos) e de Espanha (474 inquiridos). Resultados: Foi possível identificar, em ambos os países, uma tendência para os homens revelarem maior familiaridade com os recursos digitais quando comparados com as mulheres. Identificou-se, igualmente, uma correlação positiva entre o nível de habilitação escolar e a familiaridade com a tecnologia. Discusión: As tendências identificadas podem ser explicadas por fatores culturais e estruturais que influenciam o acesso e a educação tecnológica entre géneros. A educação surge como um fator crucial na inclusão digital destacando-se a sua importância na promoção das competências digitais. Conclusiones: É reforçada a ideia da necessidade de estratégias que possam mitigar medos e receios, através de educação digital e campanhas de sensibilização que enfatizem a segurança e os benefícios das tecnologias de informação e comunicação.
