Territorial distribution of the beneficiaries of the AMPYME Seed Capital program for entrepreneurship

Abstract

Introduction: The need to conduct research within the territorial framework implies, in the absence of previous and concrete studies, navigating an exploratory process that leads to providing the academic and scientific community with information that supports programs aimed at creating public policies for territorial development. Methodology: The database of the Seed Capital Program of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Authority was required to apply frequency analysis processes, the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test and the Spearman correlation appropriate for non-parametric data from each region. Results: There is little homogenization in the granting of seed capital to beneficiaries in the different regions, regardless of the preparation and presentation of a business plan. Discussions: The analysis of the territorial gap with a focus on entrepreneurship is confirmed by validating this reality with examples such as the Guna Yala, Emberá Wounaan, and Los Santos regions, which have high correlations in contrast to the province of Panama, the country's capital, which has a medium-low correlation. Conclusions: The territorial gap generated in Panama related to entrepreneurship through the seed capital program is evident.
