Abstract

Introduction: This work aims to design a knowledge management model for cooperative organisations using a systemic approach, which will help to understand the complexity of the process and facilitate its adoption. Methodology: The model has been constructed in accordance with the guidelines of the Viable Systems Model and Soft Systems Methodology and other non-systemic tools. The research comprises the following stages: theoretical, methodological, practical and dissemination. Results: The results show that the knowledge management process is based on two essential activities: 1) asset management, and 2) knowledge activity management, which includes coordination, control, intelligence, governance and interaction with the environment. Discussions: Although there are different model proposals, this research paper demonstrates the interdependence of the essential knowledge management activities and the minimum elements required for their viability. Conclusions: The proposal enables different perspectives to be brought together in an orderly manner, providing insight into the complexities of knowledge management in cooperative organisations.
