Abstract

Introduction: In contemporary digital environments, immersive and interactive narrative-based video games introduce a new form of participatory storytelling, known as ludonarrative. This creates a new relationship between the player, the plot, and the image-environment. The transition to a spherical image and interactivity poses challenges for researchers in terms of identifying elements that can be operationalized for effective analysis of these new formats. Methodology: The objective of our research focused on creating an analysis tool that would allow a deep understanding and evaluation of these contents. After establishing a conceptual framework, conducting an exhaustive literature review, and considering the particularities of our subject of study, we identified the necessity of evaluating and understanding immersive virtual environments through the analysis of the immersion and interactivity. Results: With this perspective, we formed variables and categories that allowed us to design the proposed methodology presented here, which is divided into two groups related to the sense of presence and ludonarrative. Conclusions: This methodological proposal provides a solid foundation to improve both the quality and effectiveness of these types of formats.
