Abstract

Introduction: This research examines the discourse developed by the Spanish media about think tanks during the initial period of the Covid-19 crisis. Methodology: A textual analysis is carried out of the news appearing in national and Spanish-language media that refer to think tanks. The search for publications related to these organizations was carried out using the Factiva® tool. The analyzed period begins on January 31, 2020, with the declaration of the international health alert launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and ends 100 days later, coinciding with the beginning of the de-escalation phase. 136 publications have been retrieved and examined using T-LAB Plus 2021, a qualitative-quantitative data analysis software. Results: The evidence found reveals that the content published by the media about think tanks constitutes information on the results of the analyzes they prepare and proposals derived from them. Conclusions: Globally, they address issues of social concern limited to the scope of the consequences and solutions of the economic crisis derived from Covid-19.
