Abstract

Introduction: The main objective of this study is to analyze the importance of the Stock Market in Ecuador and its impact on the economic growth of the country. Methodology: A descriptive and explanatory research was developed, through a mixed approach. In addition, the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) model was used, which was based on the relationship between the Stock Market and GDP. Results: It was shown that the behavior of the stock market in Ecuador through its indicators influenced the variations in GDP in a low range during the period 2013-2023. Discussion: the stock market is a sector that still needs to be encouraged and strengthened through actions from applied economics, but there is no doubt that this market offers great advantages and provides a direct relationship with the economic, social and financial conditions inherent to the market. development. Conclusions: The valuation of the stock market has been affected by a series of structural and legal changes that dictate the operation and management of this market and that have generated great challenges for its consolidation within Ecuador, having a negligible impact on economic growth. of the nation.

Author Biographies

Jorge Manuel Coca-Benítez, Universidad Tecnológica ECOT

Commercial Engineer with a specialization in Finance from the University of Guayaquil in 2003, he later studied at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral ESPOL obtaining two Diplomas, one in Public Accounting and Finance and another in Business Administration in 2005. He immediately undertook studies with the Higher Diploma in Finance and Specialist in Banking and Finance in 2011, then the Master in Banking and Finance Administration at the University San Francisco de Quito in 2015. Graduated with a PhD in Economics from the University UNCUYO, Mendoza Argentina, he has served in various management positions as Chief Financial Officer, Risk Manager, as well as University Professor of Undergraduate and Postgraduate with 17 years of experience.

Diana Carolina Pineda-Arenas, Universidad Tecnológica ECOTEC

Degree in Integral Education with a master's degree in Educational Management and a PhD in Educational Sciences, all her studies carried out at the University Doctor Rafael Belloso Chacín, has served in various positions such as, Institutional Inspector, Director of School Districts, Rector of different educational institutions, Academic Director of university, Dean of a Faculty modality semi face-to-face and Distance, as well as teaching University Degree and postgraduate.
