Abstract

Introduction: educational guidance in universities represents a qualitative improvement in students' academic performance, in the development of their competencies, and also as a quality instrument for institutions. Methodology: based on a documentary review of primary and secondary sources and their qualitative analysis, the aim is to show the evolution from the second half of the 20th century to the present. Results: the LOU was the first regulation to highlight the important role of educational guidance as a service for university students and to recognize it as a fundamental right; however, it did not develop into a comprehensive system equipped with basic elements. The recent LOSU continues this legacy and includes the right to educational guidance within the so-called “basic units”, which refer to the three areas of guidance action: personal, social, and professional. Conclusions: Currently, it remains a theoretical construct that will need to be developed in successive regulations and frameworks of action. University educational guidance is gaining ground and is moving towards an integrative and humanistic vision of lifelong education.

Eva Bertolín Bruguera, Catholic University of Ávila

Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the Catholic University of Avila. With more than fifteen years of teaching experience in training for employment, ICT skills and career guidance. She holds a PhD in Education from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Barcelona, a Master in Education and ICT (e-learning) and a Postgraduate in Coaching, both from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia). Her lines of research are Educational Guidance at the University.

Raquel María Guevara Ingelmo, Pontifical University of Salamanca

Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Education of the Pontifical University of Salamanca. PhD in Human and Social Sciences. Master's Degree in Research. Degree in Psychopedagogy and Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Education. Lecturer in the area of Didactics and School Organisation in different Degrees and Masters. Accredited in the figure of Hired Doctor by ACSUCYL and ANECA. She has a six-year research period. Her lines of research are Educational Innovation, Education and Health. She has numerous publications in journals of impact, is a member of the editorial board of scientific journals, and has participated in many national and international conferences.
