Introduction: This research analyses the importance and applicability of Human Talent Management (HTM) processes in companies in the department of Boyacá, with the aim of characterising the predominant practices in selection, recruitment, training and compensation. Methodology: The study is descriptive, cross-sectional and qualitative in nature. A theoretical framework was constructed on global, regional, and local trends in HTM, and a questionnaire was subsequently administered to business owners in the region to qualify and verify their perception of the development of these practices in the local context. Results: The findings reveal difficulties in the selection processes due to the lack of experience and skills among candidates, as well as deficiencies in the training and compensation processes, which negatively impact the attraction and retention of talent. Discussion: The results suggest the need to strengthen HRM strategies to better align staff competencies with organisational objectives and improve business competitiveness in the region. Conclusions: It is essential to implement improvements in training and compensation schemes to respond effectively to labour market challenges and consolidate more effective and sustainable talent management.
