Abstract

Introduction: Cinema has mirrored human social and cultural developments across the 20th and 21^st centuries. This study explores how heteronormativity persists in film and highlights peripheral sexualities. Methodology: A critical content analysis was conducted on films from early cinema to the present, focusing on visual discourses of sexual norms. Results: Film has served both to reinforce stereotypes and to express symbolic resistance. A shift toward more inclusive and diverse representations is observable. Discussion: Portraying peripheral sexual identities in cinema challenges dominant ideologies and offers educational value for social awareness. Conclusions: Cinema is proposed as a pedagogical tool to support inclusive education policies that respect diversity and combat discrimination.

Francisco José García Lozano, Universidad Loyola Andalucía

Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Granada and PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Bachelor's degree in Historical-Dogmatic Theology from the Faculty of Theology of Granada. Master's degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (UGR). Undergraduate and postgraduate professor at the Faculty of Theology of Granada (Loyola University) and at the Theological Institute of Murcia (OFM). Director of the magazine Proyección and contributor to Razón y Fe (University of Comillas). His line of research focuses on the analysis, development and dissemination of general trends and theoretical developments in current hermeneutical philosophy.
