Introduction: Digital competence is a relevant component of initial teacher education. This study analyses digital needs and describes the design and evaluation of FormaDIG, a microlearning proposal. Methodology: A two-phase descriptive-exploratory quantitative study was conducted. First, the self-perceived digital competence of 144 students enrolled in education programmes was examined using a questionnaire based on the five DigComp areas. FormaDIG, comprising 18 microlearning resources, was then designed from the diagnostic results. Subsequently, 95 participants assessed their satisfaction. Descriptive analyses, Mann-Whitney U tests, and effect sizes were used. Results: Self-perceived digital competence was moderate, with greater needs in information literacy, digital content creation, and problem solving. Differences by gender, degree programme, and professional status were isolated and generally small. Satisfaction was high, particularly with programme organisation and teaching staff. Discussion: The findings support a needs-based training design, although satisfaction does not demonstrate improvement in digital competence. Conclusions: FormaDIG was well accepted by participants and may help guide digital teacher education; its effectiveness should be assessed through specific evaluation designs.
