Comunidad surfera de Supertubos: Un estudio sociológico sobre el localismo, jerarquía y exclusión en sus olas

Introducción: Este estudio explora las dinámicas sociales y jerárquicas en la playa de Supertubos, Peniche, Portugal, centrándose en el fenómeno del localismo. Supertubos es un destino icónico para el surf debido a sus olas excepcionales, lo que genera una competencia intensa y exclusión entre surfistas. Metodología: Se adoptó un enfoque etnográfico, combinando observación participante, entrevistas semiestructuradas y encuestas. Durante tres meses, se observó y documentó las interacciones entre surfistas, realizando 30 entrevistas y distribuyendo 50 encuestas para recoger datos cualitativos y cuantitativos. Resultados: Los hallazgos indican que el localismo es predominante en Supertubos, con surfistas locales formando grupos cerrados y excluyendo a los visitantes. Las entrevistas revelaron percepciones divergentes del localismo entre locales y visitantes, afectando significativamente la cohesión social. La habilidad en el surf medió parcialmente la exclusión, pero no garantizó la integración completa. Discusión: El estudio destaca la necesidad de abordar las disparidades en las experiencias de surfistas para fomentar una comunidad más inclusiva. Se discuten estrategias que incluyen programas educativos y eventos comunitarios. Conclusiones: Los resultados subrayan la importancia de implementar políticas que promuevan el respeto mutuo. Futuros estudios deberían explorar más estrategias para mejorar la cohesión social y reducir el localismo como el turismo colaborativo.
